Soil & Edging
Phew! Back breaking day for us both, more so for my guy! Ordered 8 tonnes of top soil for the lawn this morning. Pushing the wheel barrow filled with soil from the frontyard to the backyard was no easy task. I only managed to help a little by using the rake to spread the soil evenly at the backyard (this little task alone already almost broke my back, I don’t know how my guy did all the laborious work). We placed Bee in her umbrella stroller at the backyard while we worked but of course half an hour later she started screaming to be set free. So I had to leave my guy to do everything on his own (not that I helped much anyway). The work is unfinished and would need to be continued tomorrow. It is difficult to work without sunlight (it gets dark by 5.30pm now that it’s winter here). Photo below is the soil, delivered on our frontyard. You could also see part of the neighbourhood.

The garden edging around the back of the house all done by my guy. I am so proud of him (see how I reward my guy for every job well done, in my coming post)! Bottom right photo shows our brand new back fence, haha!

Will most likely lay the lawn in a week’s time. We would rather pay extra for the lawn men to lay it for us than to break our backs!

It’s just so different the way things work here compared to Malaysia. Back home, everything is done for us. Here, most people DIY since labour is so expensive. But luckily for you, you have a macho hubby!!! eheheh… Another gold star for hubby!
Wow! Great job there Kiwi G and Grace! i know is hard to do anything when u have a little one with u ..and no one help to babysit!
Sooner everything will pay off….u can plant anything u want, Grace!
even vege! heehehehe
Wow..!! very hard working lor..!! we hired someone to do it.. for us.. last year.
Can wait to see how you reward your macho hubby..
wooh … finally the back fence is up. nice top soil you have there, so nice of your hubby to diy all the garden work. yeloh powah not really a yard person, so our garden now is all yellow with dying flowers. HA … anyway … how did you reward your kiwi g ah? can’t wait for the next post.
forgot to say … your neighborhood no pedestrian walkway … ie: sidewalk. so need to walk on the street.
Bravo to ur hubby!!! That’s a lot of hard work. Better reward him well ….hehehe… Ur back yard is looking good. Can’t wait to see the final result : )
thanks for updating the links. i think you may want to move the let’s shop and buy to the misc section.
it’s amazing how things’re coming together! u guys really ought to be proud of yourselves
although things are expensive over there in comparison to malaysia, I believe u get what u pay for la. The soil should be very fetile compared to the lalang-infested lawn we get a lot here. How else can we explain why things grow so much easily over there yea….? *puzzled face*
It looks like hard work. It looks like you have moved to a new housing area? The photos brought back a bit of nostalgia for me, typically Aussie houses.
